Happy New Year
Another year has come & gone without any health problems for little Coby! Thank you GOD! He had a great year in Florida. Happy, healthy & ready for another wonderful year ahead in 2013. I've been focused on running the "Fight GME" Facebook page & will continue to make that priority this year. Many people dealing with GME have come together on that page, as well as the Yahoo GME group - please join both, they are both full of information & great support. I'll continue to update throughout the year on Coby!!

Happy Holidays
Coby had a holiday costume contest this past weekend as part of the Christmas festivities in downtown Orlando at Lake Eola. Unfortunately, he didn't take 1st place. He took 2nd place, which was disappointing after all the hard work we put into this costume, but we'll do better next time! You know I don't give up & I believe Coby is the cutest dog in the world, so we shall keep fighting! lol

Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! Today (& every day during the year), I am so very very thankful for Coby's excellent health! He continues to do very well. He's super energetic, loves to take daily walks & we've recently started running together. He's eating great & weighs almost 9 pounds! He's still as sweet as ever & remains my little miracle angel. I remain truly grateful & thankful for Dr. Sisson & everyone who helped us along Coby's GME journey. Every day spent with Coby is a blessing & every day I am thankful. xoxo

On this day, 2 years ago, Coby was diagnosed with GME which was probably the most horrible day of my life. He was given a very grim prognosis. I was told he may live a few weeks, a few months or maybe one year. I couldn't & wouldn't accept the news, so I researched GME like crazy & found Coby's angel Dr. Sisson. The rest is history & it's 2 years later. Coby is healthy, free of GME & in remission! Prednisone free for 18 months & chemo free for 12 months! Thank you to all those who have supported us, prayed for us & stood by our side!

It's been almost 2 years since Coby's GME diagnosis & he is healthy, going strong & living a normal dog life in remission! He has been prednisone free for 528 days and chemo free for almost an entire year! He has made great progress fighting this disease that initially we thought would take him from us. I will continue to say there IS hope against GME! I will be creating another website for GME in the near future, as well as a GME Facebook page very soon. I will share those links once each is complete.

GME Update
Just a quick GME update - Coby has been prednisone free for 472 days & chemo free for 10 months! He continues to do fantastic!! He is healthy, happy & loving his normal doggy life. There is hope for those diagnosed with GME & given a grim, poor prognosis. You just have to treat it aggressively, quickly & have the right vet on board. Remember - the GME yahoo group is a wealth of information, so please check it out. Don't lose hope because Coby is living proof that GME is not a death sentence!

Palm Beach Pet Parade
Saturday, March 10th I took Coby to the 19th Annual Worth Ave Pet Parade in Palm Beach, Florida. I even constructed him an igloo float for him to ride in. I thought for sure he'd win something. Unfortunately, this time, he didn't win anything. I'm guessing you probably need to know someone in "Palm Beach" to win or be from that tight knit little 'posh' community to even get noticed. It appeared there were many "usuals" that were here, many of which frequently attend these type of events in Southern Florida.
Either way, I am still proud of my baby boy & he will forever & always be a winner in my heart. :-)

Happy February!
I just wanted to post a quick update on Coby. He continues to do great - healthy, happy & enjoying life. We recently had a behaviorist over to help with training him, so we are following a behavior modification plan. In addition to making changes around home & training Coby, we have started him on Prozac for his anxiety & fear aggression. This is supposed to help along side the training & will not be life long. So far Coby's been taking the Prozac for a few days, but we won't see any effect for 2-3 weeks. Hopefully all these new suggestions will help with Coby's aggression & anxiety.
Coby is eating great & weighs 8.8 pounds. He has gained about 0.5 pounds since we moved to Florida. He gets daily walks, which he loves! We have been staying away from the dog park because of the behaviorist's recommendations. Hopefully we'll have the chance to bring him back, but for now we need to get his behavior controlled.
We've also met another Klee Kai here in Orlando & there is another that Coby will meet in the future. So far he did good around the first AKK - perhaps being around his own "kind" reduces his stress & anxiety. I'm hoping to get him together with one of the AKK this weekend.
All in all, Coby continues to do great!!

Coby at the Dog Park
Coby has become a frequent visitor of the local dog parks. Because his health is better, he is no longer immune suppressed & the weather is beautiful year round, I have decided to start bringing him to socialize at the dog park. I must say I have been pleasantly surprised by his behavior. For the most part, he's been good. He has had a few mishaps, snips & bites, but overall he loves going.
Coby has been prednisone free for 411 days & chemo free for 8 months!!
2012 is going to be a fabulous year!!

December Update!
December 2011 - a year and a half after Coby's GME diagnosis and he continues to do great! I just looked thru some of the older posts and Coby sure has gone to hell and back. What a strong little pup he is. He looked so skinny, so sick, so bad in many of those pictures. I don't know how we did it, but we did....we made it thru a year of absolute hell....we survived! Coby has been prednisone free for 383 days now and chemo free for 7 months! He is still receiving Keppra for seizures and cyclosporine for allergies. Coby also weighs 8.6 pounds and eating well. He is super healthy and happy. :-)
